Board of Directors

The Big Lake Community Council Board of Directors consists of 7 members in good standing. 4 Directors are elected in even years, 3 in odd years. As written in the By-Laws a Board Member may serve two consecutive terms on the Board, but must then sit out 1 year before again running for a seat on the board. If you are interested in running for the Community Council Board of Directors, please contact us.

It was my great fortune to become a member of the community of Big Lake when I joined the love of my life, Tim Dickman, here in 2001.  Tim and I, along with 2 very spoiled cats, are blessed with a great neighbors, a passionately involved community, and a killer view of Denali.  My tool belt is filled with lessons learned from a  20+ year background in the real estate industry as a small business owner, an active role in local, state & national politics and a passion to help those whose voices need help amplifying.

A member of the Big Lake Community Council for over a decade, I look forward to my time on the Board – my personal goal is to engage as many members of our community as possible to ensure all our voices, as beautifully diverse as they can be, are heard at the borough and state level.

My parents bought property on Horseshoe Lake in the late ’60’s. Back then it was slightly better than a horse trail to get back there. As an adult, I had the opportunity to purchase the property from my parents and that is my home today. My children have grown up being at the lake and now my granddaughter is able to experience lake life. My professional career in radio and marketing has been nearly 30 years. I have helped manage a franchise business and I have been the executive director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Since 2010, I have been a Senior Account Executive at Country Legends 100.9 in Wasilla and am the events manager for the company. I put on trade shows; the Anchorage Wedding Fair, the Alaska’s Baby & Toddler Expo and the Big O Adventure Expo. I have two grown daughters, a fabulous son-in-law and a beautiful granddaughter. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Mat-Su Food Bank and Food 4 Kids.

It is with great honor that I am stepping into the Big Lake Community Council Board of Directors for the first time this year. Born in Ohio and raised to appreciate community and culture, I happily moved to the great State of Alaska in 2007 with a calling to serve the medical needs of the people here.

My career has been developed as a Nurse Practitioner with a passion for the Neurosciences. I received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 1984 and then went on to practice as a Clinical Manager and Program Coordinator at University Hospitals in research. In 1993, I received my Masters in Nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and taught at Case Western Reserve in the school of Nursing.

Enjoying my husband and four children first, it was the journey to Anchorage and Big Lake that taught us to rely on family, new friends and neighbors in discovering all that Alaska offers. Big Lake is a home for us now and the legacy that we long to establish here is what prompted my reach to join the mission represented in the BLCC. I currently work at Providence Alaska Medical Center and serve on the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association. I look forward to meeting and working with the community members of the Mat-Su Borough and beyond.
